All construction work must be inspected in accordance with the State Uniform Construction Code Regulations N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.18 and N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.20. Upon request, this office will carry out such inspections during the progress of work as are necessary to insure that work done conforms to the approved plans and the requirements of the Uniform Construction Code. The owner or the owner’s agent shall be responsible to notify this department when the work is ready for all of the required inspections.
Inspections: All inspections must be submitted in writing to comply with the new NJ State regulations. Do not leave your inspection requests (dates/times) on our voicemail. Please submit your request online using the Online Inspection Request Form.
After all final inspections have been made and approved, and all required documentation has been submitted; the Certificate of Approval or Certificate of Occupancy will be issued. Failure to obtain the required inspections, or occupying the structure without first obtaining a certificate of occupancy will result in a notice of violation and a mandatory penalty. Final payment to contractors should not be made until the Certificate of Occupancy is issued, pursuant to NJ State Law 13:45A-16.2
