May is observed as Mental Health Awareness Month, however our need to care and support mental health for ourselves and for others is every day. As a township and as a society, we recognize the challenges, and it continues to be our goal to support and encourage programs and opportunities that may be of help to our residents and families. In addition to utilizing resources provided through professionals, families and friends, here are a few things within our community that may support your mental health goals or needs:
  • Walking, running or biking on local walking paths, through our beautiful waterfront parks and tree lined streets.
  • Sit along the waterfront at H Kenneth Wilkie Rivers Edge Park, Carey Park or John A Roebling Park to enjoy the peaceful surroundings provided by the sun, trees, river and wildlife.
  • Take part in our township sponsored Breathwork, Yoga, Active Fitness or Gentle Fitness Programs offered weekly at the Florence Township Community Center.
  • Visit local destinations like the Roebling Museum, Library, or take part in social opportunities offered through the school district & charter school’s PTA/PTO as well as the upcoming Roebling Carnival, Patriotic Celebration and monthly 2nd Saturday Events at the Florence Township Community Center.
  • Enjoy our newly renovated tennis courts (Pickleball – Opening in May) at H Kenneth Wilkie Rivers Edge Park.
  • Consider various State and County Resources should you need further support for yourself or someone else. Link: https://www.florence-nj.gov/community/municipal-alliance/
  • Engage in conversation with family, friends, neighbors, doctors or helplines. Please remember that you are not alone.
We wish you all good health and a wonderful May.
